Market Nights: Episode 3: The Last Summer Supper

As the golden days of summer fade, Market Nights Episode 3 served as the perfect sendoff, filled with fun flavors, fresh blooms, and those little moments of magic that only
happens when good people gather around good food.
This was our last summer episode, and we made it count. Here’s what was on the menu—and why every bite felt like a love letter to the season:
🥘 Picadillo with Cilantro Lime Rice
Our night kicked off with a hearty helping of picadillo—warm, savory, and simmered with love—served over fluffy cilantro lime rice. It was one of those dishes that feels like home, whether you're familiar with it or tasting it for the first time. Ground beef, fire-roasted tomatoes, jalapeno-stuffed olives, peppers, and potatoes blended together in perfect harmony, reminding us how comfort food can be a universal language.
🍓 The Strawberry 75
If you’ve ever sipped a French 75, you know it’s the kind of cocktail that has a sweet kick.
Originating during World War I, the French 75 got its name because the drink was said to have the same “kick” as a French 75mm field gun—smooth, but strong. Traditionally made with gin, lemon juice, sugar, and topped with Champagne, it’s a great choice for brunches and cocktail hours alike.
For Market Nights, we wanted to take that same timeless flavor and give it a seasonal, summery twist. Enter: The Strawberry 75.
Still bright and citrusy, but now with muddled fresh strawberries and a splash of prosecco.
🔥Fire and Maple Sliders
You already know the sliders stole the show. These beauties were stacked with sharp aged cheddar, a bold jalapeño jam, and sweet maple bacon—tucked inside a sweet brioche bun. A true flavor bomb. The crowd had seconds… and thirds.
🍑 Hot Peach Chicken Skewers
Next up: skewers that turned up the heat and the sweet. These Peach & Jalapeño Chicken Skewers were coated in a Hawaiian Sweet Heat glaze that danced on the palate. Smoky, juicy, spicy, and sweet—all on one stick.
🍓 Strawberry Pretzel Dump Cake
And because we’re Midwestern at heart, we had to end with a Strawberry Pretzel Dump Cake. Tart, creamy, crunchy, nostalgic. The kind of dessert that brings back church picnics, family reunions, and potluck pride.
💐Familiar Faces and Floral Grace
We want to give a special thank you to Sustaining Grace Gardens for the stunning floral arrangement that added just the right touch of charm and color to the evening. Every petal felt intentional.
And for those of you who remember Mr. Graves from our very first murder mystery dinner—guess who popped up this week? Reggie Guyton! It’s always a full-circle moment when our Culture Experience events intertwine with Market Nights. That’s what this series is all about—building community across tables, seasons, and stories.
🪩 And Then… a Dance Party
We wrapped the night the only way we know how—with the kids taking over the kitchen for a full-blown dance party. Laughter, dance moves, and singing in the kitchen carried us straight into the bedtime twilight. It was one of those unscripted moments that remind us why we do this.
With just two fall episodes left, we’re soaking up every bit of joy these Market Nights bring. Thank you for being part of the journey. See you soon. 🍂
